Description
A great hike to get to the top of Mt. Whittenberg - steep downhill on the last portion; total elevation gain of 1300'. Actually a combination of Bear Valley, Old Pine, Sky, and Mt. Wittenberg trails. Bear Valley trail will be somewhat busy, but you'll probably gain solitude on Old Pine trail.

Directions to Hike
Start at the Bear Valley visitor's center and take the Bear Valley trail ~1.5 miles to Divide meadow (where there are restrooms). From here, follow Old Pine trail, a gradual uphill through Douglas fir forest, for about 2 miles. At the junction with Sky trail, head right (north). The trail will lead you out of the forest and towards the top of Mt. Wittenberg. Follow the Mt. Wittenberg trail (which will be steep downhill, back into wooded areas) back to the Bear Valley trail and visitors center. Be wary of Poison Oak, especially on the Mt. Wittenberg trail.
