TRAIL BEGINS AT 5,900 FT, AND SWITCHE BACKS DOWNN 1,200 VERTICAL IN THE FIRST 1 1/2 MILES. THEN YOU CROSS THE LITTLE KERN RIVER (CHANGE TO WADING SHOES OR SANDELS). THE TRAIL THEN IS LEVEL AND EASY HIKING ALONG THE UPPER KERN RIVER AND VERY SCENIC. THERE EXCELLENT CAMP SITES. THE RETUR TRIP IS A DIFFICULT TREK UP THE 1,200 TRAIL BACK TO THE TRAIL HEAD. THE WILD TROUT FLY FISSING IS GOOD (NOT GREAT) WITH KERN RIVER RAINBOWS RUNNING 10" TO 15".
