You begin at the Inaja Indian memorial parking area. You begin the hike by going down the hill towards the canyon doing some bushwacking for 250 yards until you come to a stream which is the beginings of the San Diego River. You follow the river often bushwacking and jumping stones. Its a beatiful scenic hike but only for the experienced hiker. There is a 100ft and two 30ft falls and water runs from November to June. There are patches of trail and some scrambling is required but no ropes are needed. Allow 10 hours for the trip. The end of the hike is found when you reach devils jumpoff an unmistakable landmark at about mile ten. At this point you begin a steep ascent up the west side of the valley until you come upon a dirt jeep trail. Follow the trail southward to the paved road where you have shuttled a car. (Ramona Oaks road)
