There are two main hikes here, the waterfall loop, and the loop to the peaks. We came from the South and went to the peaks. Around mid-June, there was still enough snow that we lost the trail, hence the name I suppose. But the scenery was great, and there are fantastic views both from the peaks and various lookouts along the way. The trail starts with mostly brush, leaving you exposed to the sun for a couple of hours, followed by evergreens almost to the top. The top is open air again, but the snow keeps you cool. Be sure to bring sunglasses. The real selling point of this hike is the seclusion. We only saw one other group the whole weekend. Plus, the national forests are much less restrictive on campfires, camping sites, dogs, etc than state or national parks. Highly recommended.
