From KP Cienega, this trail wanders along the south fork of KP Creek as it connects with the north fork and on down to the Blue River. Where the south and north fork meet, there are two ten foot waterfalls, a good place to rest and eat lunch. The trail starts at 8900 feet and descends down through the alpine forest to 6500 feet. KP Creek is a good water source (if filtered ofcourse). Best time to go is late spring early summer. Mid to late summer is the monsoon season and thunder sorms and flash floods can be of concern. In the winter, the mountains are covered with snow. Some areas are protected because the reintroduction of the Mexican Grey Wolf. A sign at the trail head describes these denning areas and pets in these areas can be dangerous. If you go, enjoy and allow twice as much time to come out as it did to gon in.
