Shelter Information

Anne, 08/27/06 "Very isolated. Great privy. Needs more hooks/nails. Very small space. We arrived late and thought we'd be alone so we decided to set up our tent inside to avoid mosquitos. Then the hikers started showing up-first one, that was ok we just moved over. Then a couple so that meant the tent comes down and we squeeze in. Then another couple-they tented. No bears! Too much noise. I guess."
Lucy G, 07/23/06 "The shelter itself is very nice, plus the water source is close, but as of July 15, 2006, the mosquitos were OUT OF CONTROL. You could clap your hands randomly and kill about 5. Be prepared."
Fomnbod, 02/12/06 "I give this shelter a 5 because I, along with my hiking partners, chap and flea rae got stuck here for 2 nights due to an impossible heavy never ending rain. The first night it was just us, as we thought the rain would end overnight and we could push on. But as day two moved along, the rain got harder and did not let up. *Were not through hikers, we were going from high point to the water gap. By the end of the day, there were about 50 people taking refuge here. 10 in the shelter, a few individuals in tents, and cant forget about the girl scout camp and boy scout camp that so happened to pitch next to each other to get out of the rain. Flea rae got kicked out of the shelter cause his paws were gettin it to dirty. I ended up setting up my tent for him and chap selpt there to keep him company overnight. The next morning we left, but the delay meant we had to skip out on our 'play-day' at buttermilk falls so we could make up on lost time. I mean who stays two nights at a shelter?!?!?! This happened during the summer of 2004! WHatever happened to those two girls, the one from new zealand with that kewl name?" Please feel free to add your own comments.
