The trail starts off on a long downhill. At about the 2.5 mile mark there is a clearing that looks as if it is used as a campsite. A trail goes out of the right side down the Goat Trail to Big Bluff. You are about 200-300 feet above the Buffalo River. It dead ends and you go back to the main trail. This trail takes you past Granny Henderson's cabin, which has one of the most beautiful views of the valley I have seen. Just below Granny's cabin is Jim Bluff, another nice bluff right on the river. The trail follows the river then a creek back into the falls. Just to clarify, this is the tallest waterfall between the Rockies and the Smokies at around 200 feet. At this point you can climb out a very steep climb to the Compton trail head, go around the top and come back down Sneed's Creek, or go back the way you came. An old homestead known as "Wild Vic's Cabin" is at the top of this climb on the bench trail going southeast. Sneed's Creek is beautiful. Several old homesteads are along this creek, as well as a solid rock that is about 150 feet long and 50-75 feet wide that the creek flows through.
