ALUM COVE TRAIL IS A SCENIC ONE MILE LOOP TRAIL THAT MAKES A GOOD SIDE TRIP IF YOU HAPPEN TO BE IN THE AREA HIKING THE OZARK HIGHLANDS TRAIL, GOING TO THE BUFFALO RIVER, OR TOURING SCENIC BYWAY 7. THE TRAIL STARTS IN A PARKING/PICNIC AREA (I DON’T THINK YOU CAN CAMP THERE) AND SWITCHBACKS DOWN A HILL TO WHAT LOOKS AT FIRST NOTICE LIKE A MANMADE BRIDGE. IT WAS REALLY PUT THERE BY NATURE AND IS A BIG SLAB OF LIMESTONE OR SANDSTONE. SITTING NEXT TO IT IS A SMALL WATERFALL. WHEN I HIKED THIS TRAIL IN THE DEAD OF WINTER THE WATERFALL WAS FROZEN SOLID. THE TRAIL TAKES YOU DOWN UNDER THE BRIDGE AND FURTHER DOWN INTO THE HOLLOW WHERE IT CROSSES A STREAM (IT WAS ALSO FROZEN) AND FOLLOWS A BLUFFLINE WHICH HAS A COUPLE OF CAVES AND WATERFALLS IN IT. THEN IT CROSSES THE STREAM AGAIN AND GOES BACK UPHILL TO THE NATURAL BRIDGE AND TRAILHEAD. FEEL FREE TO E-MAIL ME FOR PICTURES.
